Joanne Wilcox, age 81, of Dayton, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 20, 2019.
Joanne was born June 19, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Herbert N. & Irene Wilcox. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Simpson; brothers, Robert, Clifford and Edward Wilcox.
Joanne is survived by her children, Darlene Wilcox, Dorcas (Brian Printers) Wilcox and Herbert Wilcox; 6 grandchildren, Davida (Bryant) McConnell, Venita Wilcox, Tiffany Brown, Brandon Wilcox, Natasha Printers and Darlene Printers; 14 great-grandchildren, Destinae, Alexandria, Kumari, Keith, Donovan, D'Ariyaun, Robert, Avan, Diondra, Dion, Jason, Jeremiah, Justyce and Simone; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Joanne retired from General Motors and went on to work as a greeter at the Sinclair College Bookstore. She was a vital part of the Dayton community by serving as a volunteer for the Omega Character Academy, Homicide Prayer Vigil through the Catholic Parish, Greeter at the Victoria Theatre and Schuster Center as well as Child Care Provider for Temple Israel. She sang with the Omega Choir for many years. She was passionate about our youth and took time to encourage them. She loved working in her yard and helping other people in theirs as well. Her love for the Lord and His people will continue to live on in the people whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Shroyer Rd. Baptist Church, 508 Shroyer Rd, Dayton, OH 45419. The memorial service will follow at 12:00 pm.
