JoAnn Rowland was born on June 30, 1936 in Hannah, Kentucky to parents Edna and Escum Ross.
JoAnn graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1955. She then married Orbin Rowland not long after on October 15, 1955 in Richmond, Indiana. They had four daughters: Belinda, Pamela, Debbra, and Teresa, and one son: Kevin. JoAnn and Orbin would go on to have 13 grandchildren: Jennifer, Christina, Elizabeth, Matthew, Meranda, Brad, Andrea, Joshua, Angie, Jamie, Bridget, Teresa and Jimmy; 34 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great grandchildren.
JoAnn worked for Elder-Beerman for 35 years before retiring. She has raised and cared for many dogs through her childhood and adult life. She was a very outgoing and active person who had a love for photography and was never afraid to make you retake a photo as many times as she needed to get it right. She enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her children and even made a wedding dress for one. She loved her family most of all and made sure to attend every event she could that involved her family. She was an active Jehovah's Witness for more than 50 years, wherein she made lifelong friendships.
JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Escum and Edna Ross; her husband, Orbin Rowland; her children: Kevin and Pamela; her granddaughter Angie; and great-grandchildren:Jerry Jr., Kayla, and Jeremy.

A visitation will be held on Monday, July 25, 2022 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton.
