JoAnn Damico

JoAnn Damico, was born on August 21, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio. She passed away peacefully at her home in Dayton, Ohio, on April 14, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.

JoAnn was known for her light-hearted personality and her straightforward nature, which endeared her to many. She raised and showed rabbits, showcasing her passion for animals. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, reveling in the beauty of her yard whenever she was able. Swimming brought her joy as well, as she embraced every opportunity to enjoy the water.

One of JoAnn's proudest accomplishments was her ability to live life to the fullest, particularly after the passing of her husband, Mike Damico, with whom she shared 47 wonderful years. Her adventurous spirit led her to try kayaking for the first time last year, a testament to her zest for life. JoAnn reconnected with family and traveled extensively, always seeking new experiences. She had a fondness for shopping and enjoyed a good margarita, moments that reflected her vibrant personality.

JoAnn is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Shelley Shewmaker) Strausbaugh and Shane Strausbaugh, who cherished their mother deeply. She was a loving grandmother to Mara Odum, Michael Odum, Nicholas Strausbaugh, and Joseph Strausbaugh, and a proud great-grandmother to MJ Odum. JoAnn also leaves behind her beloved dogs, Petey and Dusty, who were always by her side.

She was preceded in death by her father, Phillip W. Cline; her mother, May Cline; her cherished husband, Mike Damico; her sisters, Louise Stonerock and Cookie Cline; and her daughter-in-law, Tami Strausbaugh.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 2-4pm at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424. The service will follow at 4pm. 

JoAnn Damico’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, serving as a reminder to embrace life’s joys and treat others with kindness. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
