Joan Wisebaker

Joan Lee Wisebaker, age 86 of Dayton, passed away October 20, 2017. She was born October 18, 1931 in Dayton, Ohio. Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Thomas; grandmother, Johanna Detrick; and by her husband, Frederick Wisebaker.

Joan is survived by her children: Robert William Thurman (Mary), Jerald H. Thurman (Judy) and Barbara Lee Redick (Garry); grandchildren: Melissa Austin, Michelle Powell (Randy), Jennifer Redick, Lindsay Thurman and Sarah Jeannette Whalen; and great-grandchildren: Justin, Adam, Daniel, Allison, David, Nova Lee and Bella.

Joan was a nurse for most of her life. She worked at Grandview Hospital, the County Infirmary Hospital, did home health care; and she, along with her husband, owned and operated two nursing homes.

Visitation will be held from 12-1 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Bearcreek Cemetery. To send a special message to the family, please click on Share Memories.
