Joan M. Smith, age 95, formerly of Huber Heights, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2023. She was born on May 28, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph R. Baumgartner & Edna Mae Robinson Baumgartner; her brother, Carl L. Baumgartner; and her two husbands, Alfred Mills Harding Jr. and Alvin Curtis Smith.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Harding Green (Michael) and her son, Joseph Gregory Harding (Kim); her grandchildren: Michael Oliveira (Melinda), Bryan Green, and Nikki Storch (Matt); great-grandchildren: Delaine Oliveira, Breckin Oliveira, Ella Green, Chloe Green, Hali Storch, Bethany Storch, and Tyler Storch; and great-great-grandchild, Lucas Storch.
Joan attended Miami and Wright State Universities. She became a CPA and taught accounting briefly at Wright State before establishing her own business. She also served a term as National President of the American Woman's Society of Certified Public Accountants. She loved being a CPA and worked well into her 80's. She was also a member of the Eastern Star Order of the Masons.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Dayton.
Friends are welcome to attend her burial at 10:30am on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Road, Cincinnati, OH 45241.
