Joan Lee Tye, age 84, passed away Monday, May 30, 2016 in Yellow Springs, OH. She was born in Dayton, OH to the late Nelson and Zelma Hauck on September 5, 1931. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Tye Sr.; and brother, Nelson Hauck Jr.
Joan is survived by her son, Jeff (Denise) Tye; daughter, Lori (Greg) DeMay; grandchildren: Alan DeMay, Misty (Kyle) Hendrix, Michelle Tye, Thomas Tye, and Everett Tye; great-grandchildren; K.J. and Kenzi.
Joan was employed with Fairborn City Schools as a teacher's aid, and for over twenty years as a school librarian. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a friend to many. Former students often came back to visit her long after they had graduated from the school.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 3, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel (3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH) The funeral service will be held at Beavercreek Baptist Church (3511 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH) on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Ohio Valley Chapter, or the Neurofibromatosis Network.
