DEETER, Joan, age 76, of Kettering, passed away, Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born February 29, 1932 in Pontaic, Michigan to the late Branton E. Sr. & Genevieve A. Dennis. Joan was a graduate of Pontiac Sr. High School, Class of 1949. She was a long time member of Sycamore Creek Country Club, a member of the Dayton Women's Club, and a member of the Montgomery County Republican Women's Club. She found great joy in volunteering at her churches over the years, Fairmont, Southminster, and finally Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Joan is survived by her husband of over 55 years: Donald Andrew Deeter; daughter and son-in-law: Gwen Deeter Barker and husband Kevin; grandchildren: Lindsey Deeter & Andrew Deeter Barker; brother and sister-in-law: David Dennis & Jane; sister-in-law: Joanne Dennis; and numerous other family members and friends. She is also survived by the friends whom she loved to golf, play bridge , have lunch, and share books with in Dayton, Florida, and Michigan. Her two favorite shopping buddies will miss her horribly. Along with her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother: Branton E. Dennis Jr.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 30, 2009 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Wilkinson St. Interment will be held privately at David's Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity in memory of Joan. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel).
