Joan Sue Bolden

Joan Sue Bolden, age 80, of Carlisle, Ohio, passed away on September 25, 2024, at her residence with family by her side.

She was born October 21, 1943, in Pardee, Virginia, the only daughter of 7 to the late David and Elizabeth Smith.

Joan enjoyed life through simple pleasures. She loved to cook, garden, play games, fish, and spend time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her sons, James and Larry Bolden; daughter, Linda Ballinger; and brothers, Benny and Steve Smith.

Her memory will forever be carried on by her family. Joan is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ray Dean Bolden and daughter, Donna Johnson (Mac Brinegar); brothers, Paul (Susie) Smith, Terry (Loretta) Smith, Randy (Debbie) Smith, Bill (Debbie) Smith, and grandchildren, Brooke (John) Macke, Lesley (Devin) Moyer, Collin Bolden (Ashley Smith), Dillon (Kathryn) Ballinger, and Amirah Ballinger; plus 7 great grandchildren, Henry, Harrison, and Hudson Macke, Rosalie and Blair Bolden, McKenna and Conner Smith, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH, with Pastor Roger Mullins officiating. Funeral service to follow. Burial will take place at Highland Cemetery in Miamisburg.
