Jo Ann L. Holmes-Frazier

Jo Ann L. Holmes-Frazier, age 69, departed this earthly life on Thursday, December 12, 2024. She was born on July 25, 1955 in Los Angeles, California to the late Carson and Helen Holmes. In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her grandparents: Weldon and Harriett Holmes; grandson, Victor L. Guy, Jr; granddaughter, Steffani Long; and great-grandson, Malcolm Isaac, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, James P. Frazier, Sr.; son, James P. Frazier, II; daughters: LaKita Frazier and Datrya Frazier; grandchildren: Iesha Frazier, Jaszmine Frazier, LaKiesha Frazier, Destanee Moss and Rayven Byrd; great-grandchildren: Suri Miles, John'Nis Cole, Sincere Dyer, Maliha Miles, Jaszlin Cole, Symphonie Porter, Jai'Meir Frazier, Dorrehsean Dyer, Sherrod Dyer Jr, Martenis Taylor Jr, Marjon Taylor, Ni'Raye Hill and Ry'Aire Hill; sisters: Ramona Holmes Juanita Nunez, Andrea Holmes and Nina Holmes; brothers: Ronald (Mary) Holmes and Michael (Milla) Holmes; aunts: Yvonne (Neil) Brown and Pauline Holmes; uncles: Francis (Pauline) Holmes and Tyrone (June) Holmes; a host of other family members and friends. 

Jo Ann was raised in Los Angeles, California. She graduated from Yorktown High School in 1973, and that same year, was crowned queen, Miss Arlington of the Virginia State Pageant. Jo Ann also graduated from San Francisco University State College, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree. 

Jo Ann was a Veteran of, and a Communications Specialist with, the U.S. Navy. Because of her love of helping people and her community, after retiring from the Navy, Jo Ann continued to work for the Federal Government and with Montgomery County Job and Family Services. 

Jo Ann enjoyed shopping, reading, doing word search puzzles, surfing the net and watching horror and Sci-Fi shows, but most of all, she loved spending time with her family. 

Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am.
