Jimmie L. Walker

November 3, 1940 — January 29, 2022

Jim L. Walker of Sprinboro, born November 3, 1940 and died January 29, 2022 at Hospice of Butler/Warren County.

He was the son of Ray and Carol (Schultz) Walker. Jim graduated from Middletown High School in 1959. He retired from Armco/AK Steel with 40 years of service. He worked in the Machine Shop. He also worked many years after retiring from Armco at Heatherwoode Golf course in Springboro.

While in high school he played may sports including football for the great Tiger Ellison. He was known on the football field as "Golden Toe Walker" for his kicking skills. He also played basketball for the Middies 1958 great basketball team. He is a member of the Ohio Hoop Zone Hall of Fame. While working at Armco, he also played basketball and softball for the Third Base Café softball team. He was on a handball/racquetball traveling team for the YMCA. In his spare time, he was also seen at the drag strip in his gas dragster built by him and his buddy.
Jim is a lifetime member of the Middletown Sportsmen's Club and the Amateur Trapshooting Assn. He was elected 5 times to the Trapshooting All American Teams. He won numerous honors and trophies at the Grand American held in Vandalia, Ohio. He and his wife Linda travelled all over the United States shooting. Jim loved shooting trap and taught his two sons the importance of proper respect for firearms.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Johnnie.

Survived by his high school sweetheart of 61 years, Linda. Sons, Jimmie (Michelle) and Donnie (Olena). He was known as Poppie to his 5 grandchildren: Tyler and Sydney Walker of West Carrollton, Dayna and Emilee Walker of Lebanon and Sara Walker in the U.S. Army. Two step-grandsons, Ivana and Danylo Kucheriavyi of Kropyvnytskyi Ukraine. Great granddaughter, Kinsley Walker of Lebanon.

A special thank you to the nurses and doctors at Hospice of Butler/Warren County and Dr. Richard Chamberlain.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
