Jimmie Johnson, age 82 of Dayton, passed away on November 5, 2022 at home with his wife by his side.

He was born on January 6, 1940 in Wheelwright Kentucky to the late George Johnson and Dixie Newsome. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Jimmy Johnson; step-son, Timothy Spoonmore; two grandsons, Steven Reed and Chad Johnson; and four siblings, Ellis, Elmer, Leona, and Janice.

Jimmie is survived by his beloved wife, Joanna Johnson; two daughters, Teri Reed and Joanna Mullins; two step-sons, Brian Brooks and Shawn (Erin) Spoonmore; eight grandchildren, Josh, Kenny, Shane, Spencer, Nicholas, Tristian, Grant, and Jonas; seven great-grandchildren, JJ, Logan, Keanna, Kaylee, Laveah, Destiny, Dreke and one more great-grandchild on the way; six siblings, Georgian Moore, Whyoma Martin, Louise (Danny) Burgess, Linda Johnson, Marie Adkins, and Delmer (Tracy) Johnson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was a big fan of NFL Football, Boxing, and UFC Fighting. The most important thing to Jimmie was his family, especially the family reunions over the years. He also loved his two fur babies, Thunder and Raven. Jimmie is loved and will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Jimmie's memory.

The family hopes those who would like to honor him, find a quiet time to remember who he was in your life and be thankful for the time you had together. In lieu of a public funeral service, individual families are encouraged to have their own private memorial. He will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at a later date.
