Jim Lee Yontz, age 84, of Riverside passed away on March 27, 2024. He was born in Troy on June 6, 1939 to the late Albert and Violet Yontz. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Carrie Bell and John Holeton; sons, Chris Bowman, Ronnie Yontz; sister, Beverly Asher and special kitty, Tiger.
Jim is survived by his wife of 37 years, Brenda; children, Stephen (Teresa) Yontz, Rebecca Yontz, Angela (Steven) Hegg, Brian (Sara) Bowman; grandchildren, Christopher Yontz, Emily Yontz, Sara Yontz, Tyler Entralgo, Alexandria Entralgo, Lindsey Entralgo, Nicholas Bowman, Nathan Bowman, Bayleigh Blankenship, and special Rottie, Desie; nieces, Pamela and Telisa, along with many other family and friends.
Jim was raised by his grandparents, Carrie Bell and John Holeton, whom he adored and cherished. He graduated from Graham High School, Class of 1958 in St. Paris, Ohio. After high school, Jim served in the United States Army from 1958 - 1964 at Camp Irwin in California. Jim worked in various divisions at General Motors and retired after 35 years of service. Jim and Brenda moved to Houston, Texas to be closer to family, where they had a small farm and enjoyed their donkeys, goats and many chickens. Eventually, they moved back to Ohio where they lived for the remainder of Jim's life. He enjoyed gardening, doing home projects, bee keeping, mushroom hunting, playing horseshoes and he was an avid sports fan.
Jim was always there for you and when he told you he would do something for you, he did it! Jim had many friends wherever he was and his acts of kindness and loyalty were the reasons why he was so loved. It is an understatement to say how much his family and friends will always love and sincerely miss Jim.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors to follow at Calvary Cemetery, 1625 Calvary Ave. Pastor Joe Getts to officiate.
