Jessie Louise Tolliver

February 6, 1934 — February 7, 2017

Jessie Louise Tolliver, "aka Momie, Gamma, and Gam Gam", went to be with her Lord on February 7, 2017 at the age of 83.

Jessie is predeceased by parents Ernestine and Howard Anderson Jr and sister, Norma Jean Miller. Jessie is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Cassandra E Tolliver of Union, OH and Karla R (Gary) Creager of Huber Heights; by her beloved sister-in-law Dorothy "Dot" Sandefur of Evansville, IN; by grandchildren Matthew S. Green and Aliya J. Creager; by great grandchildren Chanel R. Green and Jerricho A. Green; by nieces Stephanie (James Johnson) Miller and Debra (Henry) Cannon of Seattle Washington and nephew Samuel Miller III "Tony" of Seattle Washington; and by a host of other relative and friends.

Jessie grew up in the sleepy rural community of Denison, TX. She was Valedictorian of the Terrell High School class of 1951 and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics from Prairie View A&M University. Shortly after graduation from college, Jessie married the love of her life, Airmen, Charles Henry Tolliver of Evansville, IN. Thus began her career as an Air Force wife. Jessie loved homemaking and her great organizational skills proved useful during family moves overseas and across the United States. Motherhood was her greatest joy. The arrival of her 2 precious daughters kept her busy for many years. She sewed multiple matching outfits, did loads of laundry washed with Tide and Downy, and prepared delicious dinners served at 6pm. A favorite was roast beef with gravy, macaroni and cheese from scratch, broccoli and those famous homemade rolls. Grandmother-hood brought a new dimension to Jessie's life. Devoted and loving, she was always available to babysit for a few hours or for a few days. Many happy hours were spent building Legos with Matthew and sewing clothes for Aliya's dolls. Her kitchen was always stocked with the favorite treats of each grandchild (and daughter!).

Who can find a virtuous woman? Her family would say, "It was Jessie". "Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised." Proverbs 31: 29-30.
