SIERON, Jerry K., age 82, of Dayton, passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Gladys Sieron; brothers, Oscar Maurice Jr. and Robert Donald Sieron; former wife and friend, Lois Sieron, and wife, Marie Petrich Sieron. Jerry is survived by his children, Monica (Steve) Bultman, Mike (Lori) Sieron, Maryann (Dick) Santel, and Maureen (Ron) Ware; step-daughter, Pam Silko; step-son; Paul Petrich; grandchildren, Alexis, David, and Rob Santel, Geoff and Tyler Sieron, Steven and Allan Ware, Cassandra Bultman; step-granddaughter, Lauren Bailey, and siblings, Tom, Earlene, Maureen, Wayne, and Shireen.
He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was awarded the Korean Service Medal, two Bronze Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Indiana University and also attended the University of Notre Dame. Jerry spent most of his professional career working as a civilian employee of the U. S. Air Force in the Air Force Systems Command Materials Laboratory and then in the Systems Acquisition and Logistics Support Division. He is the author of numerous U. S. Patents and was a world renowned expert in elastomers. He finished his career as a Senior Program Manager at United Technology Corporation.
Family will receive friends from 9:30 – 10:00 am on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at St. Helen's Church, 605 Granville Pl., Dayton, OH 45431, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Helen's Church or St. Leonard's Foundation.
