GARRETT, Jerry R. "Skinny", age 70, of Dayton, passed away unexpectedly at his OND home on April 25, 2013. He was born March 12, 1943 in Central City, Kentucky. He graduated from Kiser High School, class of 1961 and attended Eastern Kentucky University. Jerry was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. After his service, Jerry worked and retired from Behr Manufactoring in 2005. He was a member of American Legion Post 619 and AMVETS Post 24. He is survived by his siblings, Linda Papanek, Ronald Garrett, Beverly Garrett (Macy), Carol (Bill) Koger and Teri (Darryl) Strine; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Mercer and Dorothea Bernadine Garrett. Jerry left his earthly life on the most traditionally spiritual day of the year, celebrating the coming together of Christ and the Buddha. Christ representing "Love" and Buddha "Wisdom". Burial will follow at a later date in the Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jerry's memory may be made to Newcomer Funeral Home. Jerry was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.
