Jerry Randall Neff

Jerry Randall Neff died peacefully on May 25, 2018 in Dayton, Ohio at the age of 60. His firm belief in Jesus and his devotion to his family supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace.
Randy was born to the late Jerry and Joyce (Weisenberger) Neff, a retired educator and a homemaker respectively, in Dayton, Ohio on August 30, 1957. He graduated from Oakwood High School in 1975 and went on to earn degrees in Bible, Business and Math at Cedarville College in 1980 and a Master of Education at Wright State University in 1990.
Randy was a well-respected educator who taught high school math for 38 years. Throughout his career, he held positions at Valley View High School, Wayne High School, and Oakwood High School, where he continued to teach after his retirement in 2015. In addition to being a classroom teacher, Randy coached high school wrestling, football, and baseball throughout his career, and served as Athletic Director at Oakwood Junior High School.
Randy was blessed with a loving family. He married his best friend, Kelly Lyninger, on June 11, 1988, in Dayton, OH, where they went on to lovingly raise four children.
Randy was an outstanding and passionate educator and coach. His larger-than-life ability as an educator to effectively communicate content through professional dedication, personal attention, humor, and genuine care for young adults leaves a legacy that lives on through the lives of those he touched. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends who celebrate the fact that he is at peace with his Lord and Savior.
Randy is survived by his wife, Kelly; his son, Joseph; his daughters, Rachel and Anna; his sister, Janis (John) Ault of Miamisburg, his brother, Douglas (Nancy) Neff of Oakwood, and his sister, Julie (Nate) Thompson of Oakwood. He is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Randall Neff, and his parents, Jerry and Joyce Neff.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Apex Community Church, 5200 Far Hills Ave, Kettering, on Thursday, May 31, at 6:00 PM. Family will receive condolences after the service.
