Jerald Pettigrew, 75, was born in Detroit MI where he resided with his Aunt Cora Moore. He obtained his education in the Detroit school system. Immediately after graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in the Vietnam War. He was commissioned a MSGT, April 21, 1988.
Jerald left the U.S. Air Force after 10 years of service to re-enter civilian life. At the time he pursued his Bachelor degree in Criminology from Florida State in Tamps, FL. He then attended Purdue University in Lafayette, IN and obtained his Masters is Sociology and Physiology.
Jerald re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served in the Gulf War. He went on to serve another 12 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force May 1, 1991 after 22 years of service to his country.
Jerald was a member of the Aero Club, Wright Patterson AFB; a member of the American Legion; and a member of Edward Dugger, Jr. Military Lodge No. 123 where he obtained a degree of Master Mason.
Jerald enjoyed flying planes and spending time on his boat.
He is preceded in death by his aunt Cora Moore, his mother Novella (Pettigrew) Robinson, his son Jeremiah Pettigrew, and brother Phocion John (P. J.) Robinson, Jr.
He leaves a very loving and devoted wife Darlene Pettigrew and sister Kim Robinson and a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of Jerald's life will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018 at 11:00 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel. Burial will follow at Dayton National Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 am on Friday at the funeral home.
