Jeffrey Lee Simms, age 70 of Dayton, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Southview Hospital. He was born March 1, 1949 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Robert and Wilma (McClure) Simms.
Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Robert.
In addition to his mother, Wilma, he is survived by his brother, Roger Simms as well as many friends.
Jeff was a 1967 graduate of Fairview High School and completed his Bachelor's degree at University of Houston in hospitality management. He also attended Wright State University prior to transferring to Texas. Jeff honorably served in the United States Navy as chef during the Vietnam War. Jeff was successful with his career in the restaurant industry in Houston prior to returning to Ohio and retiring from D-Max Automotive after almost 30 years of employment. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Dayton, participated in a Parkinson exercise class at Brookdale in Enon and was privileged to have been able to participate in Honor Flight. Jeff enjoyed reading and surrounded himself with the knowledge of books and in his youth, dedicated a great deal of time and energy to Boys Scouts. He also had a great passion for American history.
Family will receive guests for a memorial service 10:00 am Friday, April 12, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, Dayton. Memorial contributions may be made to the church in Jeff's memory at 1001 Harvard Blvd., Dayton, OH 45406.
