Jeff "Woody" Howerton

Jeff "Woody" Howerton, age 68 of Dayton, Ohio passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 16, 2025. He was born January 25, 1957 in Dayton, Ohio son of the late Judy Howerton.

Jeff was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Jeff met several friends along the way throughout his 30 plus years of being out on his routes in Dayton, Ohio as a truck driver. He was an avid bowler and softball player. Jeff enjoyed playing cards, DJ'ing at family and friends events, and bringing a smile to those around him by playing pranks. He loved watching Nascar, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Reds, and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Jeff's pride and joy was his family and spending as much time with them as he could. He will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Helen Carrier; brother, Michael "Mike" Howerton; aunt, Betty (Chick) Reichert; and cousin, Cathy Reichert.

He is survived by his daughters, Amanda (Eric) Crowell and Melanie Kraus; grandchildren, Jaxon, Hunter, Carter, Logan, and a grandson on the way; siblings, Tim (Trish) Howerton and Maryann (Tony) Tragesser; nephews and niece, Jason, Craig, Chris, Brian, Dustin, Nick, Josh, and Elizabeth; as well as numerous other family members and close friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 4-7pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio 45424. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 10am at Our Lady of the Rosary, 22 Notre Dame Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45404. With burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
