Jean Ann Elvidge, age 81, of Huber Heights, passed away May 27, 2022. She was born February 26, 1941 in Sayre, PA to the late John and Florence Smith. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her brother, John R. Smith, III.
Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, Douglas Elvidge; son and daughter-in-law: Ed and Brenda Elvidge; daughter and son-in-law: Sandie and Michael Konrad; grandchildren: Christopher, Tahnee (Andrew), Kevin, Stewart (Hailey) and Thomas (Kaitlin); great-grandchildren: Daisy and Silas; many other family members and friends.
In her younger years Jean was very athletic, was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing softball. She was a huge Sci-Fi fan, loved canning and reading, enjoyed snorkeling and was very creative. Being a military wife, Jean and her family traveled to many different places over the years, making each stop her own special place. Jean retired from WPAFB after many years of service; she was known as Mama Jean by her co-workers and was the go-to person for many during her tenure there. More than anything, Jean loved spending time with her family, friends and her dogs: Jake and Jada.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 pm on Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 7:00 pm. Burial will be held at Dayton National Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Jean's memory to Hospice of Dayton or any rescue or animal shelter of your choice.
