Jean Arnold, age 95 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born July 4, 1924 in Mt. Joy, Ohio to the late Tracy and Edith Roney.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Howard Arnold; a son, Danny Arnold; sibling, Ruth Holland; daughter-in-law, Sandra "Pete" Arnold
Jean is survived by children, Jeff (Pam) Arnold and Sharon "Jo" (Jim) Ingles; grandchildren, Tracy (John) Carteaux, Diane (Bob) Gray, Jennifer (Scott) Crist, Erin Arnold, Laura (Adam Dexter) Jones, Alex (Stephanie) Arnold and Kimberly (Matt Trentel) Arnold; great grandchildren, Bethany, Lucas, Kaitlyn, Amanda, Katelynn, Brooklynn, Madelynn, Gage, Gannen, Ruby, Lincoln, Caysen, Baylor and Alayna; a sister, Anna Mundhenk as well as many other extended family members and friends.
Jean was a 1942 graduate of Rarden High School and worked for Frigidaire in Dayton, returning home when her future husband returned from WWII. After marriage the couple returned to the Dayton area and made it their home for 73 years. Jean was an active member of Parkview Church of the Nazarene in Belmont and volunteered as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts in earlier years. She loved to cook, travel, camp and spend time with family. Jean will always be remembered as a wonderful hostess, family matriarch, a woman of spunk and grit and to others as the "Tupperware Lady".
Family will receive guests from 1:00-3:00 pm Friday, September 6, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home, KETTERING. Funeral services will immediately follow at 3:00 pm and be officiated by Pastors Gary Smith and Tim Hastings. Jean will be laid to rest with her husband in a private ceremony at a later date in Bowersville, OH. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton at 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, OH 45420.
