J.C. "Jay" Maness, age 81, of Moraine, OH and formerly of Big Stone Gap, VA passed away Sunday September 14, 2014.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Maxie Maness; and sister, Lola McDole.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Tootsie Maness; daughters, Dottie (Larry) Cowden and Vickie (Kim) Smith; grandchildren, Angela (Terry) , Aimee (Todd), Shane (Melony), Nick (Julie), and Staci (Justin); great grandchildren, Calvin, Emily, Drew, Rylea, Kaiden, Savanna, Brooklyn, Kierstyn, Addilyn, and Dayson; brother, Wayne (Nadine) Maness; sister, Lucille Christian; nephew, June Bug (Sharon) Christian; and many nieces and nephews.
Jay was a US Army veteran that served in Korea and he retired from Dayton Walther. Jay loved baseball and followed the Cincinnati Reds.
Visitation is Thursday September 18, 2014 from 12pm to 2pm at the Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel), Kettering, OH.
Funeral service is Friday September 19, 2014 starting at 12pm at First Freedom Baptist Church, 3315 Main St, Moraine, OH 45439.
Pastor Henry Watts Jr. is officiating.
Burial will follow at 2pm at Rose Hill Cemetery, Hamilton, OH.
