BALLARD, Jay D., 87, of Riverside, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Heartland of Kettering.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Eva Nell Ballard; parents, Dewey and Lula Ballard, sister, Wanda; brother, Lawrence; son, Leslie Ballard; and grandson, Nathan Saxon.
Jay is survived by his children, Debera (Gordon) Saxon, Kevin (Debbie) Ballard, and Sharon (Mark) Schiebrel; cherished grandson, Nik Saxon; many other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Jay proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service he went on to work and retire from General Motors. After his retirement, Jay enjoyed a leisurely life with his family and friends. He will be remembered for always having a joke ready and being the life of any gathering. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
A Visitation will be held at Newcomer - North Chapel (4104 Needmore Road) on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 11am - 1pm. Private family burial to take place after.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton in Jay's memory.
