Jarrell Arlen O'Kelley, age 80, of Kettering, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2011.
Jarrell was born August 6, 1931 in Topeka, KS, to the late Rev. Frank and Margaret O'Kelley.
He graduated from Sterling College, in KS. Jarrell received his MA (Humanities) at the University of Denver and his Ph.D (English Lit.) from Michigan State University. He taught English language and literature at Olivet College, MI., Michigan State University, and retired as Professor Emeritus from Defiance College, OH.
He was preceded in death by his daughters, Melissa O'Kelley Demas and Amy O'Kelley.
Jarrell is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doramae Neaville O'Kelley; children, Andrew O'Kelley & his wife, Michelle, Vanessa O'Kelley & her husband David Santucci; son-in-law, Jeff Demas; grandchildren, Ashley Demas, A.J. Demas, Abbie Demas; great-grandchildren, Aubrianna Jackson, Andrew Demas; cousin, Shirley Klady; and many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00pm at Miami Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (8690 Yankee St, Dayton, OH 45458).
Donations may be made in Jarrell's memory to The American Red Cross, The Humane Society, or The Hospice of Dayton.
