Janet Eileen Wills

September 18, 1927 — September 21, 2023

Janet Eileen (Kemp) Wills, went home to her Lord on the 21st of September, 2023, just days after her 96th birthday. Her life proved an example of one who strived to exhibit servanthood, modeling Christ, her Savior.

Janet was born September 18, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio, to Barrett M. and Gladys (Linkhart) Kemp and her childhood home was on the grounds of the original 1805 Kemp farm (Kemp Road in Beavercreek). The family moved to Oakwood before her teen years. She graduated in the 1945 class of Oakwood High School.

Janet leaves three sons; Robert Mark (Jackee) Wills of Webster, Florida; Scott (Debbie) Wills of Xenia, Ohio; and Michael (Lori) Wills of Mason, Ohio. Her grandchildren are a further legacy: Laura Eller, Aaron Wills, J.B. (Danielle) Wills, Rachael (John) Bruno, Patrick (Araceli) Wills, Andrew Scott (Alyson) Wills, Holly (Todd) Patrick, Peter (Susan) Wills, Katelyn (Derrick) Blyberg, Andrew John (Jordan) Wills, Lauren (Michael) Milkowski. Her grandchildren blessed her with 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Janet's heart was large. Her love extended to many "adopted" family members including John and Rose Swinburne, Bruce and Mary Lucius, Richard Coffelt, Joy and Ben and Emily Miller and Pattie Heath.

She married her high school sweetheart, Robert M. "Bob" Wills on May 9, 1947, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2000. Also preceding her was their son, Barry M. Wills, who passed in 1975.

Whether it was at the Title Agency, the Montgomery County Clerk of Courts, or private construction businesses, Janet was a trusted, diligent worker. She was known for her organizational skills and attention to detail, which she was happy to share with others. She loved to cook, bake and was an excellent hostess.

She was a member of Hillside Chapel in Beavercreek, Ohio, where she used her talents in the kitchen, choir and the OWLS Senior Group. In recent years, Janet was a faithful volunteer for the Beavercreek Senior Center, where she made many lasting friendships. She had the special joy of spending time with her dear friend, Mr. Robert "Bob" Zimmer.

Public visitation to be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd) on Thursday September 28, 2023 at 11:00 am with service to follow at 1:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Valley View Cemetery.
