Janet Ann Kule Wentland, 77, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2022 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on March 14, 1945 in Nanicoke, Pennsylvania to the late John and Jennie Kule. In addition to her parents, Janet is preceded in death by her husband Norman Wentland; and brother Jay Kule.
Janet is survived by her daughters Emily (David) Price, Allison Wentland, and Kathryn (Brian) Oakes; sisters Nancy Gill and Kathy (Jon) Reed; grandchildren Hannah, Dylan, Lauren, and Gretchen, each of which was her favorite.
Janet and Norman moved from the East coast to Dayton for Norman's service in the Air Force. She received her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education in 1974 from Wright State University and began teaching in the Dayton Public Schools. Norm and Janet were proud to be one of the early families to begin revitalizing the historical Oregon District neighborhood. That is where they raised their family and began Norman's business, and continued to live until their passing.
Janet had a long journey with Alzheimer's. Prior to her journey, she was active in the community with Girl Scouts, League of Women Voters, and a part of La Leche League. She was a stay at home mom and was very involved in her children's schooling, volunteering in many ways including PTO and with art class.
