Janet Marie Smith

Janet Marie Smith, age 61 of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. She was born January 1, 1961 in St. Charles, Illinois, the daughter of the late John and Marilyn Berkes.

Jan lived life to the fullest showering love on everyone she came in contact with. Her smile lit up every encounter. Her warmth and loving embrace opened their home to so many. If you could escape her arms, you were sure to see and hear about her crafting adventures. The only thing that excited her more was her cherished flower garden and the rare appearance of a butterfly. The butterfly's journey encounters obstacles and perseveres exposing a beauty to the outside world for too short a time. We will miss the joy and beauty you brought into our lives.

Jan is survived by her husband of 43 years, Tim; children, Sean Smith, Katie (Tommy) Kowalsky, Megan Mooney, Brittany Smith; sisters, Kathy (Brian) Twait, Liz (Ed) Becker; brother, Mike (Sharon) Berkes; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; as well as numerous loving relatives and friends.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Sue McCracken; and brother, David Berkes.

A celebration of Jan's life will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022 from 10 am to 12 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459). A memorial service will begin at 12:30 pm. The family respectfully requests that only family and friends attend.
