On Wednesday, January 10, 2024, Janet Burkhardt, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away at the age of 74.
Janet was born on September 3, 1949, in Xenia, Ohio, to Elwood and Erma Jean (Fread) Strickland. Janet spent her childhood and school-age years in Beavercreek, Ohio.
She met the love of her life, Otto, at Beaver Vu Bowl. They were married on July 22, 1969. Together, they were blessed with three Daughters: Kris (Chuck) Davis, Kelli (Tom Fleagle) Burkhardt, and Kim (Brian) Coates and lived in Beavercreek, Ohio.
She leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: CJ and Michael Davis, Allison Zelinskas (Alex Goodlive), Branson (Sydney), Evan and Clayton Coates; and one great-grandchild: Paul "Koen" Coates. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara DeMarey and lots of nieces and nephews.
The last few years of Janet's life were definitely challenging with physical limitations but she faced these challenges with her family by her side. Anyone who knew her knows that her family meant everything to her and she loved spending time with her grandkids; cheering them on at school events and boring them with stories of days gone by.
She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and will be missed every day.
A celebration of life open house will take place at a later date.

"You can only have one mother,
patient, kind and true, no
other friend in all the world
will be the same to you. When
other friends forsake you, to
mother you will return, for all
her loving kindness, she asks
nothing in return. As we look
upon her picture, sweet
memories we recall, of a face
so full of sunshine, and a
smile for one and all. Sweet
Jesus take this message, to
our dear mother up above,
tell her how we miss her, and
give her all our love."
