Jan Lawson, a cherished member of the Dayton community and beloved teacher and administrator, passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 80 in Middletown, Ohio. Born on December 4, 1944, in Dayton, Ohio, Jan dedicated over 25 years of her life to teaching at Dayton City Schools, where she inspired countless students with her passion for fitness and wellness.

Known for her vibrant personality, Jan had a special knack for bringing joy to those around her. She loved working outside, where she spent many hours cultivating beauty in her garden. Her laughter was infectious, and she found pleasure in arts and crafts, painting, puzzles, and board games—activities she often shared with her family.

Jan's pride and joy were her grandchildren, Cole and Frank Hollencamp, whom she adored profoundly. Her role as a grandmother was one of her proudest accomplishments, and her legacy of love will continue through them.

Jan leaves behind a loving family that includes her son, Mike Lawson and her daughter, Keri (Rob) Hollencamp. She is also survived by her brother, Fred (Sue) Cole, and her niece, Stephanie (Brad) Smith, as well as her niece-in-law, Ursula Cole. Her great-nephew, Shane Smith, and great-nieces, Farrah and Ella Cole, will remember her fondly as a guiding light in their lives.

Jan was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Ruth Cole, and her brother, Robert Cole. She also mourned the loss of her nephew, Todd Cole, and her beloved dog, Wilma Rae.

Jan Lawson's impact on her community and family will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
