YANNEKIS, James "Yan", age 62, passed away Wednesday, June 2, 2010. Yan was the BRAINS behind the dynamic duo "The Other White Meat." He was born in the village of Nittenau in Bavaria, Germany, on June 14, 1947. He is preceded in death by his mother, Anna Yannekis. He is survived by his only daughter (that HE KNOWS OF), Stacie Van Dam and her husband, Chuck (who now really does have his work cut out for him); granddaughters, Amanda Yannekis (and fiancé, Scott Basil), Megan and Marissa Van Dam; father, Greg Yannekis; siblings, Sharon (Gary) Cunagin, Ilona Yannekis, Nick (Karen) Yannekis, Penny Yannekis, and Tina (Tony) Smith; former wife, Marcie Yannekis; and very dear friends, Susan, Jackie, Sharon, Mo, Becky, Tina, Don, Jim, Larry, Scott, and Mike. (There are many, many more, but they charge by the word.) Jim graduated from Trotwood-Madison High School in 1965. He proudly served in the United States Army in Vietnam, earning a Bronze Star with Valor for heroism. (Although he insisted it was "not a big deal," we all know it was.) He worked for several years at WPAFB, making their lawns "works of art," and was currently employed at the USPS where he tossed mail 12 hours a day just so we could get our bills & love letters. He claimed to be a Bengals fan, but we know his heart was really with the Browns. He was an avid trivia buff and could have smoked Ken Jennings. He loved his Tuesday morning golf league; he was in every football/basketball pool he could find (never winning even ONE!); he loved wearing pink (because chicks dig it); but, mostly, he loved his daughter! She is going to miss her daddy, the smartest, funniest, hardest working man she will ever know. Dad, now you can finally get some sleep! Visitation will start at 4:30 p.m. until the funeral at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH 45432.
