James Joseph Wogen

September 18, 1946 — May 6, 2023

James Joseph Wogen, age 76 of Dayton, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023 at home in his sleep after a battle with cancer. He was born September 18, 1946 at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio the son of the late Col. Joseph Wogen (ret) and Leone Wogen.

Jim was a military brat and grew up moving from Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Japan to California where his father retired. Jim attended Redlands High School and University of Redlands in California. He served in the United States Army. After being medically retired from the military he went on to have a career spanning over 20 years working for Redlands Community Hospital as a Respiratory Care Practitioner advancing to Director of Respiratory Care. Jim loved his trips fishing with his son, and spending time with his grandsons. He retired from Redlands CA to travel full time in 1997 when he and his wife Rhea Raae-Nielsen were married. Together they had years of travel adventures all over Mexico, USA and Canada. He moved to Ohio in 2013 to be closer to his son. Jim was the life of the party and He will be missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rhea Wogen; son, Justin (Laura) Wogen; sister, Krisanne (Steve) Eagleberger; grandsons, Henry J Wogen and Jack J Wogen; Justin's mother, Susan Stockmeyer; and nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Wogen, Leone Wogen and his sister, Patty Wathey.
