James "Jim" Weaver

May 20, 1943 — December 28, 2022

Jim Weaver, 79 of Dayton, passed away on December 28th, 2022. He was born on May 20th, 1943 in Dayton, Ohio. Jim was the son of James Lee Weaver Sr. and Mary Szekelyhidi.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, David Weaver and Joe Weaver.

Jim is survived by his brother, Tom Weaver; children Chelly Picone and James Lee Weaver III; grandchildren Mallorey Smith, Morgan Fulks, Preston Weaver and Peyton Weaver; and great grandchildren Miles Smith, Harrison Fulks and Landon Fulks.

Jim spent his life in service to his country. After ten years in the US Navy, in various posts throughout the US and Vietnam, Jim spent over twenty years working as a civilian contractor at Wright Patterson Airforce Base. He received numerous awards and honors for his devotion and contributions throughout his career. Later in life he spent his time volunteering as the Commander for American Legion Post 589 and as a finance officer for AMVets. Jim's favorite pastime was competing in barbeque competitions-where he created Jimmy's Hog Pen BBQ and brought home numerous trophies for his amazing BBQ. Beyond cooking, he also loved fishing, hunting, and riding his Harley.

If desired, memorial contributions can be made to The Hospice of Dayton.

The family hopes those who would like to honor him will find time to grab a beer and share stories with friends, remembering Jim and all the things he meant to you.

Jim will be deeply missed by his family and friends. While the world has lost a great man, God has welcomed a son.
