James Wakefield

James Richard Wakefield, age 93, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2016. He was born May 3, 1923 in Columbus, Ohio the son of the late Isaiah and Mary Wakefield.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Lucy Wakefield and 4 sisters, Evelyn, Mary Alice, Patty, and Norma.
James is survived by his son, Randy (Kattie) Wakefield; daughter, Myla Renee (Fred) Eibling; grandchildren, Tyesha, Jimmy, Geoff, Randy Jr., Stephen, and Rachel; and 4 great-grandchildren, Sophia, James, Luci, and Micky, as well as numerous other family and friends.
James completed 43 years of service with the United States Air Force in 1983. This included 3 years in Italy in WWII and a civil service career as an aircraft modification specialist with the 4950th Wing at WPAFB.
A visitation will be held on June 24, 2016 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432, with a funeral service following at 1:30 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Valley View Memorial Gardens, Xenia, OH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a veterans association of your choice or the Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene.
