James W. Clemons, age 89, of Dayton, joined his beloved wife on Monday, April 17, 2023.
He was born in Sharpsburg, KY on September 10, 1933 to the late Harrison & Christine (Botts) Clemons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Ruby Clemons; siblings, L.G. Clemons, Wanda Lee Jones, Chester Clemons and Bertha Mae Boyd; and grandson, Romel Clemons.
James is survived by his daughters, Theresa Clemons, Sarah Hayes and Denita Clemons; grandchildren, James (Shalonda) Clemons, Carlea (David) Lake, Danisa (Victor) Broxton, Jerome Montgomery Jr., Robert Clemons and Monique (Randae) Wheeler; 24 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Howard Clemons, Shirley (George) Wilson, Bobby Joe Clemons and Janice Marie Potts; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
James (Walt) (Cool Cat) was very family oriented. He also had his own personal relationship with God. He had a great sense of humor and loved making people laugh. He liked walking in the Kroger store to talk and laugh with people. James (Jim) was a truck driver for Cornett Trucking Company for many years. He loved the Cincinnati Reds, even while they were losing. James spoke his mind and held his head high. He was one of a kind and will be truly missed.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 1, 2023 from 9:30-10:30am at the Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, OH 45424. A celebration of life will follow at 10:30 am.
James' service will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
