James (Jimmy) Thacker, age 62, of Lebanon, OH, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton, after a brave 5-month battle with Glioblastoma. He was born on April 18, 1962, in Dayton, OH, to the late Lauly and Ruby Thacker.
For 33 years, Jim devoted his skills and craftsmanship to Dayton Pattern, where his expertise as a pattern maker was highly regarded. His commitment to excellence in his work was evident and left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the industry. Beyond his professional endeavors, Jim was also known for his exceptional talent as a mandolin player, performing for the last 12 years with the Pinnacle Ridge Bluegrass Band. Jim was also very talented and creative in woodworking and made many beautiful keepsakes for the family.
Jim leaves behind his loving wife of 28 years, Georgia; stepson, Todd Lewis (Daphne); sister, Jan Hamilton (Donnie); brother, Norm Thacker (Val); his two fur babies; and many other friends and relatives.
Jim was a wonderful husband, stepfather, brother, and brother-in-law. Family could always count on him to help however needed. He was loving, kind, and generous. He will be missed by all those whose lives he touched.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025 from 12 pm to 1 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459. Funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
