James David Stanford, fondly known as Dave, peacefully passed away on March 24, 2025, in Beavercreek, Ohio, at the age of 90. Born on April 28, 1934, in Stanford Township, Illinois, he was a man of great wisdom, kindness, and compassion, who touched the lives of everyone he encountered.

Dave was a proud veteran who served his country in the Army during the Korean War and received a Purple Heart for his bravery. His commitment to service and dedication extended into his professional life, as he retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he was a Computer Programmer Analyst.

An alumnus of Olivet Nazarene College in Kankakee, Illinois, Dave cherished the friendships and memories he cultivated during his time there. It was at college where he met his beloved wife, Lois, with whom he shared a lifelong partnership filled with love and laughter. He was a devoted husband and a caring father, leaving behind daughters Alice Anderson and Kimberly (Steve) Pelfrey.

Dave was also a proud grandfather to Jason (Anna Harbaugh) Levier, Jonathan Levier, Christopher (Angela) Levier, Ryan Pelfrey, Michael Anderson, and Derek Pelfrey. He also found immense joy in the company of his nine great-grandchildren, nurturing family bonds and creating treasured memories.

As a member of LifeSpring Church, Dave actively participated in his community and cultivated deep relationships through his involvement in church activities. He was notably the President of the Philosophy Club during his college years, reflecting his commitment to learning and intellectual engagement.

In his personal life, Dave loved nothing more than engaging in friendly competition while playing the Fast Track board game with family, showcasing his spirited nature and love for fun. His personality shone through his approachable demeanor; he never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to strike up conversations with anyone he met. Known for his plethora of "Dad" jokes, Dave's sense of humor will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife, Lois Stanford; daughters, Alice Anderson and Kimberly (Steve) Pelfrey; his grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his sister, Marjorie Rowland. He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Alice Stanford, and his brothers, Marvin and Jack Stanford.
