SMITH, James Wallace, age 79, of Carlisle and formerly of Hillsboro, went to be with the Lord Sun., July 3, 2005 at Hospice of Dayton. He was preceded in death by his father & mother Harvey L. & Lydia B. Smith along with 3 brothers William R., Walbert B. and Harvey D. Smith. Wallace is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Josephine H. Smith; his 4 daughters Patricia Clark (Leon), Laticia Hodges (Frank), Madonna Morris (David) and Diane Brown (Daniel); his son Daryl Smith (Nora); 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Gladys Burks (Robert) and Beatrice Norman (Wenold); 1 half brother Eugene Smith (Trula); 1 half sister Mary Lou Spradling (Carl); step-mother Cora Waters and a host of other family and friends. He was saved at a young age and baptized into the Mt. Helen Baptist Church in Tenn. Wallace has been a faithful member of several churches including New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Dayton where he attended along with his family for many years. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps during W.W.II and fought for our country on Okinawa. Wallace was Past Master of Minerva Lodge # 98 in Miamisburg and PHP of Trinity Chapter #44 R&AM. He was retired from Ohio Operating Engineers. We will all miss his humor and most of all his love. The heavenly choir now has a new tenor and heaven has a new tenant. We will join him soon. Funeral services 1:30 P.M., Fri., July 8, 2005 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Revs. Darrell Stapleton and Kenneth Banks officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12:30 - 1:30 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
