James Edward Selmon

James Edward Selmon Jr., age 74, of Dayton passed away on July 25, 2023. He was born in Dayton, Ohio on April 24, 1949 to the late James and Geneva Selmon Sr. In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by his sister, Wanda Selmon and granddaughter, Tashelle Vaughn.

James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Doris; daughters, Tiffany Selmon, Crystal Selmon, Kimberly Wilson; grandchildren, Anthony Vaughn, Tyrinn Poole, Torren Selmon, Javonne (Emory) Beck, Jamie Baker; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ronald Selmon, Phyllis Rimblert, Deborah Harper; as well as many other family and friends.

James retired from Appvion Papers after 23 years and continued to work small jobs until 2021. He graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1967, and always looked forward to attending the class reunions. James was an avid sports fan, especially football and basketball. He enjoyed playing the lottery and spending time with his family. James was known for giving everyone a nickname and his memory will live on through his stories.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Arnita Peavy to officiate.
