James "Jim" Reno Searcy, age 88, of Vandalia, passed away August 10th, 2022. He was born November 9th, 1933 in Dayton, Ohio. James was preceded in death by his parents, Reno and Leona Searcy, son, Bobby Searcy, grandson, Christopher Searcy, brother, David Searcy and sisters, Mono Lou Just and Phyllis Monnin.
James is survived by his wife of 68 years, Elaine, children, Jim (Anila) Searcy, John Searcy and Doug (Candy) Searcy, grandchildren, Ashlie, Megan, Cole, Devin and Annaleah, and great grandchildren, Silas and Marcie.
James was Sergeant First Class in the United States Army and served for 22 years. He was a combat veteran of the Korean War, where he received a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained during combat. After retiring from his military career in 1973, he worked at BF Goodrich for 20 years.
James helped build football fields and baseball diamonds for the kids in his community that are still being utilized today. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
