James Root

ROOT, James Alan, 71, of Kettering, Ohio, beloved husband and father, passed away on Friday, September 3, 2004 at the Dayton Veteran's Administration Medical Center. He was born on February 18, 1933, son of Helen Root and John McClelland. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Carol Root, his daughter Kris Mangan and son-in-law Bob Mangan of Centerville, OH, daughter Dana Fisher and son-in-law Bob Fisher of Lebanon, OH, son James Lynch and daughter-in-law Kathy Lynch of Lenoir City, TN, step-daughter, Debbie Bauer of Kettering, OH, step-son Michael Wilson and daughter-in-law Vicki Wilson of Waynesville, OH, step-son James Wilson of Dayton, OH, 16 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many dear and faithful friends. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, he worked for 20 years for NCR Corporation in Dayton, OH. He eventually retired from Manfredi Motor Transit Company. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Legion, and a life-member of the Middletown Sportsmen's Club. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at Newcomer Farley Funeral Home 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio. Visitation will be held from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Tuesday, September 7, 2004. Interment will be at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SICSA.
