HELPHENSTINE, James Roy, age 79, of Huber Heights, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2011. He was born December 17, 1931 in Mason County, Kentucky. Jim was a veteran of the United States Army with the 7th Calvary Infantry while stationed in Japan. He retired from Inland Manufacturing a division of General Motors in 1983.
Jim is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara (Jefferson) Helphenstine; three children, Laura (Gil) Bauer, Vicki (Chuck) Gebben, and James (Nancy) Helphenstine; three grandchildren, Heidi (Eric) Dodds, Alex Gebben, and Chris Gebben; six great-grandchildren, Jack, Liberty, Trinity, Joshua, and Benjamin Dodds, and Landon Hunter; one sister, Mary Grayson; three brothers, Oscar Helphenstine Jr., William Helphenstine, and Ronnie Helphenstine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar B. and Linnie Mae (Stamper) Helphenstine. Pastor Stan Tharp officiating. If desired, donations may be made to Hospice of Miami County.
