James Powers, age 90, of Franklin, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020 at River Oaks Alzheimer's Special Care Center. He was born April 26, 1930 in Saylersville, Kentucky the son of the late Samuel and Rhoda (Adams) Powers.
Along with his parent, he is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Ethel Powers and second wife, Marietta Powers; son, Larry Powers; daughter-in-law, Valerie Powers; and 12 siblings.
James is survived by his children, Gary Powers, Judy Powers, Elaine (Dale) Spurlock and James Melvin Powers; grandchildren, Jennifer (Shawn) Leibold, Erica (Matt) Pollock, Jackie Powers, Danny (Janice) Bond and Amber Brandham; 11 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was a proud US Army veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. James retired from United Color Press in Monroe, Ohio. He loved to garden, cook, enjoyed working in his yard and he especially loved spending time with his family.
A private family service will be held at Newcomer Kettering Chapel. James will be laid to rest at Springboro Cemetery.
