James Patrick Phipps, age 42, of Beavercreek, Ohio, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017, at his residence. He was born August 25, 1975, at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, to Col (Ret.) Joseph and Donna (Wicks) Phipps.
After graduating from Beavercreek High School in 1994, Jim worked for several area restaurants, including Frisch's Big Boy for over nine years, and most recently Logan's Roadhouse, where he was beloved by his coworkers. His many interests included gardening, fishing, soap-making, coin and stamp collecting, and completing jigsaw puzzles. Jim had a quick smile, a great laugh, and a gentle, caring spirit that drew out the best in people. His family remembers in gratitude the many acts of kindness that people bestowed upon him.
Jim is survived by his parents; two brothers, Peter J. (Theresa) Phipps and Robert V. Phipps; a sister, Cynthia L. (Chan) Sarinyamas; nine nieces and nephews including two godchildren; aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his treasured canine companion, Honey. He is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Church of the Ascension, 2025 Woodman Drive, Kettering, Ohio 45420 on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 10:30 am. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Crematory and Receptions, 3380 Dayton Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Burial will follow the reception at Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.
