HENSLEY, James P. "Pete"
Age 81, of Butler Township, passed away on Thursday, September 17th, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky in 1928 and moved to West Virginia when he was a toddler. He attended Magnolia High School in Matewan, West Virginia and graduated in 1947. He worked in Logan, West Virginia as a coal miner before moving to Dayton in 1953. He has been an active and founding member of the House of Prayer Old Regular Baptist Church in Beavercreek since 1966. He retired from General Motors after 36 years from the Delco Moraine Plant on Needmore Road where he was nicknamed "Frog". He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Rose P. and Mark E. Henley of Huber Heights, Granddaughter and grand son-in-law Julie A. and William H. Swisher of Dayton, Grandson and grand daughter-in-law Bobby D. Gibson II and Kimberly J. Gibson of Butler Township, 6 very special great grand children: Courtney Lynn Gibson, Bobby D. Gibson III, Jacob H. Swisher, Elisabeth Marie Gibson, James Thomas "J.T." Swisher, and Kailee Belle Swisher, 2 sisters Martha Melinda Knox of Clewiston, FL and Mary Christine Blevins of Wellington, KY, 2 brothers John Henry Hensley of Delbarton, West Virginia and Albert Rush Hensley of Dayton, many brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters of the church, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Mary Belle Hensley, His Mother and Father, Nona and Avery Hensley, 3 sisters Rose Marie Hensley, Nancy Ann Cox, and Nevada Mounts, and 6 brothers Greenway, Columbus Oliver, Alec, Robert C., Samuel David "S.D.", and Tommy A. Hensley. Visitations will be held 4-7 PM Sunday, September 20th at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road in Dayton. Monday visitation will be held from 11 AM - 1 PM, September 21st, at the House of Prayer Church on Wallaby Drive in Beavercreek (off of Dayton Xenia Road) with funeral services being held at 1PM officiated by Brother Jeffrey Dillon, followed by graveside services at Dayton Memorial Gardens on N.
