James F. Owens, "Uncle Boots," age 91. On July 30 our Lord looked down and said "my good and faithful servant you have finished the race and kept the faith. Rest in my arms forevermore."
Jim was born on December 12, 1924 in Speedwell, TN to the late Ossero and Paradine (Edwards) Owens. Preceded in death by 2 brothers Albert and Dave; 3 sisters, Bonnie, Myrtle, Marie. He is also preceded in death by his first wife of 47 years, Imogene Berry Owens, his childhood sweetheart. He is survived by 2 sons, Gary (Diana) of Salem, SC and Kenneth (Cindy) of Kettering, OH; 5 grandchildren, Jared, Whitney (Dave), Meredith (Traner), Allison (Chris), Anna (Zack); 8 great-grandchildren, Nate, June, James, Ella, Austin, Connor, Nora; his wife of 18 years, Doris Hawkins Owens; 2 brothers, Claude (Betty), Marshall (Polly); 3 sisters, Cleo, Alida (Harold), Nila; 2 stepsons, Randy (Pam), Jeff (Dusty); 4 step-grandchildren, Brian, Brad, Jake, Amber; 5 step-great-grandchildren, Lilly, Henry, Maddie, Sadie, Maggie.
Jim worked at GM for 39 years. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of West Carrollton. He served in many capacities, went about his work joyfully, and always put others before himself. He never wanted any praise and was friendly and kind to all. His greatest joy was his wife and children--he especially loved the little ones.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 2, 2016, 9-11am at First Baptist Church of West Carrollton, 705 Elm St., West Carrollton, OH 45449. Funeral service will begin at 11am with Pastor Scott Wells officiating. Burial will be in Hillgrove Cemetery, Miamisburg, OH.
