James W. Oaks, age 80 of Riverside, passed away December 27, 2011. He was born July 26, 1931 in Pennington Gap, VA to the late William and Maude Oaks. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by wife, Wanda Gulley Oaks; 3 brothers: Roy, Garland and Eddie Oaks; and 3 sisters: Audrey Oaks, Sue Carmack and Irma Bush.
Jim is survived by step-daughter, Joyce Barnett; step-son, Ronald (Nette) Gulley; 3 grandchildren: Karen (Rick) Hubbard, Harold Galloway and Mark Barnett; 9 great grandchildren; 10 great great grandchildren; sister, Georgia Thompson; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 pm on Friday, December 30, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday. Burial to follow at Willow View Cemetery.
