James "Nick" Simpson
May 31, 1931 — April 4, 2023
James "Nick" Simpson, age 91, of Vandalia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
Nick was born in Stearns, KY on May 31, 1931 to the late James & Lena Simpson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first beloved wife of 61 years, Edra M. Simpson; son, Nicholas D. Simpson; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Simpson; sister, Joyce Pemberton and Blana Simpson; brothers, Ruble Simpson, Granville Simpson and Tommy Simpson; brothers-in-law, Gordon Pemberton, "Shep" Shepherd and Claude (Lora) Jones; and father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Tressie Jones.
Nick is survived by his loving wife or 6 1/2 years, Meredia M. Simpson; son, James "Jim" Simpson; grandson, Garret Simpson; granddaughter, Ashley Simpson; sisters, Carol Shepherd and Donna Simpson; daughters-in-law, Judy Simpson and Ruth Simpson; many other relatives, co-worker friends and friends in Christ from Sunday School and Classics.
Nick was a member of the Helenwood Baptist Church in TN. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bowler. Nick was a wonderful man, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and always said he was proud to serve his country.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Newcomer North Dayton Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424. The service will follow at 10:30 am.
Nick will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia, OH.
