James Harold Lockhart, age 88, of Tipp City, passed away May 28, 2015 at Hospice of Miami County Inpatient Unit at UVMC in Troy.
He was born November 1, 1926 in Clarkrange, Tennessee to the late, Dr. Francis Joseph Lockhart and Pansy Pearl (nee Conatser) Lockhart. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Martha (nee Joseph) Lockhart; brothers, William Frank and Charles Lydick; sisters, Clella Imogene York, Carolyn Lunell Ady, Doris Willeen Towns, and Frances Glenna Lockhart. Survived by a daughter, Connie Jo (nee Lockhart) Metzger and husband Bill; a son, James H. Lockhart Jr.; three grandchildren, William (Bill), Jeremy (Jerry) and Martha (Marti); eight great-grandchildren; a dear sister and brother-in-law, Jo Blan and Joe LaRue; and dear brother, Arthur Eugene Lockhart; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
James was special and dearly loved by many and is fondly remembered for his sense of humor. He became a licensed barber in 1950. He retired from Frigidaire in 1982 after 30 years. He was a WWII Army veteran and a life member of VFW Post 9582.
He was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. Many have shared with the family their love and respect for the kind and caring person he was. He will be sorely missed.
Family will receive from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM.
