James Allen "Jim" Lockhart, age 81 of Dayton, went to be with his Lord on Saturday, July 3, 2021. He was born on July 6, 1939 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Clarence and Bertha Lockhart.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by ten siblings; Bill Hayes, Carl Hayes, Helen Hayes, Keith Lockhart, Chuck Lockhart, Barbara Reed, Betty Mroz, Donna Jean Phillips, Linda Honious and Patsy Fetters and his in-laws, Ballard and Thelma Reed.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Joyce Lockhart; two children, Bruce (Darleen) Lockhart and Teresa Hart; four grandchildren, Jarid Hart, Geoffery Hart, Sean Lockhart, and Cameron Lockhart and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Jim was devoted to his faith and read his Bible every morning. He was a proud member of First Church of The Open Bible. Jim was in the Army Reserve from 1957-1964. He worked for the City of Dayton as a Water Engineer for thirty years followed by a wonderful thirty years of retirement. Jim was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles, gardening, and watching old Westerns. Jim most enjoyed spending time with his wife and children. He loved to attend his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's sporting events. Jim will be most remembered for his gentle spirit, smile, laughter, and that special gleam in his eyes. He is well loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at First Church of The Open Bible located at 4990 Old Troy Pike, Dayton, Ohio 45424. Funeral Service will be officiated by Pastor Gary Petersen at 11:00 am following visitation. James will be laid to rest at Royal Oak Cemetery.
