James Leroy Lewis

James (Jim) L Lewis, 78 of Xenia, Ohio passed away Friday March 10th in Dayton, Ohio after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Born August 12th, 1944, he was the son of the late Leonard and Lucille Lewis of Fairborn, Ohio. Survivors include the love of his life Anita Lewis whom he married on February 14th, 1969, daughter Angie Wilson (Danny) of Loveland, Ohio and son Brandon (Kelly) of Wilmington, Ohio, three sisters Jackie (Bob Clark), Deb Brock and Jeannie Lewis; grandchildren Cameron and Conner Ivey, Kayla Wilson, Adam, Tyler, Lindsey and Carly Lewis, great grandchildren Iris, Zander and Jenevieve Lewis.

Jim proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1968. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching his Dayton Flyers and Cincinnati Bengals/Reds. Jim enjoyed coaching his son's teams for many years and truly enjoyed being on the baseball fields making an impact on the kids he coached. As the years progressed Jim found a love and passion for golf and being on the course with all his buddies. He was also proud to tell everyone possible about his hole in one.

Jim's generous heart will be greatly missed by all that knew him. His greatest passion was loving his wife and devotion to his family. Those that knew him know that his family was his world and nothing he wouldn't do to protect, love and celebrate with them. He loved taking family vacations, cruising multiple times with his best friend and wife Anita. He enjoyed celebrating Birthdays, and all Holidays with family and made sure they were special for all. He was known for his strong work ethic and taking pride in doing a job right the 1st time. The family will forever miss his quick wit, sense of humor and infectious laugh. He always had the ability to make people smile and laugh even during difficult times.

The family would like to thank the nurses at Miami Valley South and Ohio Hospice of Dayton whose compassion and care did not go unnoticed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude and Ohio Hospice of Dayton. Public visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton Xenia Rd.) on March 16, 2023 from 5 pm -7 pm.
